The embrace

We sat on the front porch with our feet dangling over the steps.
The sun was going down and the sky nearly wept.
Your arm brushed against mine, suddenly our fingers intertwined.
One hand combed through my hair, while the other rested on my cheek.
Your lips inched closer and took me by surprise.
When they pressed against mine, it was absolutely divine.
The scale tipped as our breath caught within our chests.
We sat there for hours in awe of one another.

A love like mine

We’ve been here before—
Eying each other through Plexiglas.
I want to be close to you right now.
I can feel my feet drifting toward you.
I have no other choice but to follow.
The closer I get the more I feel it.
You made me feel needed.
I needed to know that I was wanted.
My lips moist from the anticipated reunion.

I want to be embraced and feel that blissful numbing sensation as we escape through the high.
